Since 2005, Pulcinella has brought together a group of soloists and chamber musicians who are passionate about playing historical instruments, members of the most prestigious ensembles, and united around Ophélie Gaillard. These musicians revisit some of the major works in the repertoire and are committed to discovering new or little-known works. The ensemble’s recordings have received critical acclaim: Vivaldi (2006), Boccherini (2007), Bach Arias (2012). Then two albums dedicated to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (2014, 2016), a double album of Boccherini with Sandrine Piau and, in 2020, a double album of Vivaldi with singers Lucile Richardot and Delphine Galou were rewarded and crowned by the national and international press (Diapason d’Or of the Year, Choc de Classica, distinctions in Strad, Toccata, Gramophone). In 2021, A Night in London was a huge success, with over 2 million streams and a BBC Classical Music Awards nomination. In October 2023, set sail for Naples with Napoli!, recorded with the voices of Sandrine Piau, Marina Viotti, and Luan Goes. A “generous program” punctuated with “delicious rarities” (Diapason, December 2023).
The ensemble regularly collaborates with the best singers of the younger generation and performs in the most prestigious venues (Beaune Festival, Tarentaise Baroque Festival, Ambronay Festival, Radio France and Montpellier Festival, Les Salons in Geneva, Oude Muziek Utrecht, etc.). Acclaimed by international critics, Pulcinella also performs regularly in Europe (Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Ireland) and Latin America. Pulcinella is committed to bringing baroque and classical music to as wide an audience as possible, particularly in its home regions: Île-de-France (especially Seine-Saint-Denis), Haute-Savoie, and Greater Geneva since 2020. Special attention is given to integrating young professionals, who are mentored by senior members of the Pulcinella Orchestra.
The ensemble is supported by DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Île-de-France region, CNM, the Haute-Savoie department, the town of Collonges-sous-Salève, SPEDIDAM, and ADAMI. Pulcinella is a member of FEVIS and ARVIVA – Arts vivants, arts durables.
