The Franco-Swiss pianist Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Poizat has embarked on an\u00a0ambitious project\u00a0<\/strong>: recording the\u00a0complete works of Maurice Ravel with piano for\u00a0Apart\u00e9<\/strong>. The\u00a0six-volume box set<\/strong>\u00a0will be released on\u00a0October\u00a025, 2024<\/strong>\u00a0as a tribute to the composer, whose 150th birthday will be celebrated the following year.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Captivated from an early age by the enigmatic music of Maurice Ravel,\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Poizat has made his dream come true by recording his complete piano works.<\/strong>\u00a0After years of trying to capture all their secrets, this\u00a0former prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of Martha Argerich\u00a0<\/strong>pays tribute to the composer on the 150th anniversary of his birth with a performance that is both moving and enchanting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve always been overwhelmed by his harmonies and melodies,”\u00a0<\/em>confides the pianist.\u00a0“The more you play a composer, the more you come to understand him, and it’s really by working on complete works that you can enter the composer’s musical intimacy. Bringing together concertos, chamber and vocal music, the 6 volumes that make up the complete set also include two volumes of pieces for solo piano\u00a0recorded in the chronological order of their creation<\/strong>, allowing the pianist to become truly immersed in the work.\u00a0“It’s a bit like having Ravel’s life unfolding beneath your fingers,”<\/em>\u00a0explains Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Poizat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Ravel project is also\u00a0a true technical achievement<\/strong>\u00a0for the pianist, who recorded all the pieces over 18 months in 5 different locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
