Paris, April 8, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Little Tribeca<\/strong> is pleased to announce that the ensemble Th\u00e9l\u00e8me<\/strong> is joining its roster. This iconoclastic group, founded in 2013 by Jean-Christophe Groffe<\/strong>, is made up of musicians from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis<\/strong>, a renowned institution for early music performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Driven by a deep understanding of the repertoire and a clear taste for offbeat paths, Th\u00e9l\u00e8me<\/strong> explores Renaissance music with singular freedom, blending historical instruments (lute, viols) and electronic sounds (modular synthesizers, Ondes Martenot), while crossing disciplines \u2013 theatre, dance, writing \u2013 to invent a living, vibrant, and resolutely contemporary language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highly acclaimed by critics and audiences, Th\u00e9l\u00e8me has released two albums on the Apart\u00e9<\/strong> label:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Baisiez-moi<\/strong> (2022), dedicated to Josquin Desprez<\/strong>, brings together twenty vocal pieces, some of which are rarely recorded, culminating in a world premiere: Tant vous aimme<\/em>. Faithful to Josquin\u2019s polyphonic spirit with its 2, 4, sometimes 7 male voices, the album stands out through its bold use of modern instruments: Ondes Martenot<\/strong>, Fender Rhodes<\/strong>, and Buchla synthesizer<\/strong> breathe new life into iconic works like La Bernardina<\/em> and Mille regretz<\/em>. The album received the prestigious Gramophone Award<\/strong> in the Early Music category in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– All we get is life<\/strong> (November 2024) imagines a fascinating dialogue between John Dowland<\/strong> and John Cage<\/strong>, bridging Elizabethan melancholy and 20th-century experimentation. Lute pieces, Song Books<\/em>, electronic textures, and vocal transformations intertwine. The album also features 17-time Grammy Award winning artist Sting<\/strong>, a passionate admirer of Dowland, as a special guest. He delivers a cosmic, intimate version of Shape of My Heart<\/em>, and appears in the video for Flow My Teares<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its taste for blending eras and styles, Th\u00e9l\u00e8me embodies a joyfully anachronistic and subtly subversive vision of early music.
